February 1, 2019 (Edmonton) – On behalf of the Alberta Party Caucus, Caucus Leader Rick Fraser wishes all Black Albertans a warm and festive Black History Month.

“In 2019, the theme of the Government of Canada’s Black History Month Campaign is Black Canadian Youth: Boundless, Rooted, and Proud and I can think of no better way to celebrate with the Black community in Alberta and across our wonderful country,” said Fraser.

“This month is an opportunity to celebrate all the contributions that the Black community has made over the past 100-plus years that Alberta has been a province

“From the start of the civil rights movement and even before that, the Black Canadian community has been involved in the advancing of equity and equality of human rights in the country – a recognition that benefits each person who is privileged to call Alberta home.”

“On behalf of the Alberta Party Caucus, I wish all members of the Black Canadian community a very happy Black History month. My challenge to all Albertans is to research this month, why it exists, and why it is so important that we celebrate this event. I invite everyone to explore and look into some of the many contributions the Black Canadian community in Alberta has made to ensure our province is the best place to live – regardless of the colour of your skin, what you believe, or who you love.”
