January 14, 2019 (Edmonton) – On behalf of the Alberta Party Caucus, MLA Greg Clark is wishing Punjabi Albertans, Sikh Albertans, and all those celebrating the happy harvest festivals of Lohri and Maghi a very fruitful and bountiful harvest.

“The Harvest season is a wonderful time for families and communities to come together as one to collect the harvest and to celebrate the winter solstice, said Clark.

“When I was a younger man, my friends and I would celebrate the changing of the seasons to the longer days where we could play hockey. Looking back, this celebration of longer daytime hours was a form of celebrating the solstice in our own way.”

“When we gather together as Albertan communities, we are capable of achieving amazing things. We have the entrepreneurial spirit woven into our societal fabric, and the south Asian communities have embraced this.”

“On behalf of my family, I wish all those celebrating the traditional harvest festivals of Lohri and Maghi a wonderful and bountiful harvest and a very happy solstice time.”
