June 7, 2018 (Edmonton) – Building on the momentum of new members and an increased presence in the legislature, the Alberta Party Caucus is wrapping up session as the most effective and responsible caucus in Edmonton.
With the government throwing away any sense of fiscal responsibility and the official opposition running away from any suggestion of social issues, only the Alberta Party MLAs have been willing to do the hard work of representing all Albertans.
Some notable accomplishments of the Alberta Party Caucus this session include:
Releasing a fully-costed shadow budget for the fourth year in a row, outlining spending priorities and a more realistic path to balance.
Led the way on the introduction and passage of a sunset clause for the government’s Bill 12, and pushed the government for more transparency around the Trans Mountain pipeline deal.
Fully participated in debating legislation, including voting in favour of Bill 9 and proposing common sense amendments to improve other government legislation.
Represented Alberta’s small business community by advocating for more efficient regulation.
Raised a number of issues that matter to Albertans such as access to life-saving medication like naloxone, more supports for the PDD community, the provincial racism strategy, and making things better for frontline health care workers.
Albertans have been clear that they are tired of parties who put politics ahead of practical solutions. The Alberta Party Caucus has taken that to heart, and will continue to put the best interests of Albertans first.
MLAs Rick Fraser, Karen McPherson, and Greg Clark look forward to connecting with Albertans over the summer break and returning in the fall to continue this important work.
